Our Farm

First off, we would like to say thank you for visiting our website.  We have worked hard at getting to where we are now and hope that hard work shows in the quality of the products we have for sale.

My wife and I run the farm with our three young children.  We are located in Buffalo, MN off Clementa AV NW.  We have a two acre pasture on a large hill comprised of natural grasses, grains, clover and alfalfa; hence the name Clementa Hill Farmstead.  At the base of the hill is a beautiful, small lake.  We started our farm because we were not satisfied with the products at local grocery stores and wanted to raise our children in a sustainable lifestyle: teaching them how to live off the land and provide for ourselves.  Now, we are far from complete sustainability and are learning with our children as we go.  Our life goal is to not rely on mass produced products such as food, goods and other items at big box office stores, grocery stores, etc.

200 years ago, sustainability and homesteading was the typical way of life.  Most families had a flock of chickens for eggs and meat.  Kate and I knew that chickens were a must have to accomplish our goal.  We currently have around 40 egg laying hens and 20 egg laying ducks.  We plan on adding to the flock in the future but are comfortable with those numbers currently.  With a smaller flock, we are able to provide the utmost attention and care.  As for the meat chickens, we butcher at least 200 chickens per year, twice a year, with those numbers fluctuating with demand.  Again, with a smaller flock of meat birds, we are able to provide the attention they deserve and the care they need to live the absolute best life.
